Circumpolar Studies Core has seven courses, which consist of a single lower-level introductory course and six upper-level advanced courses in three interdisciplinary fields of study. Together, the Circumpolar Studies Core enables students to gain broad knowledge and understanding of the lands, peoples, and critical issues of the circumpolar world.
The Core Courses are offered online each academic year (September to December and February to April/early May) and are available to all students attending a member institution. Students outside the UArctic membership may take the online courses as an Open Learner (contact the International Academic Office iao@uarctic.org for registration information). Some member institutions offer some or all of the core on-site in face-to-face classes, so it may be possible for you to take the course in a classroom. Each course is 6 ECTS (European Credit Transfer System) credits or 3 North American credits (or equivalent).
Follow the corresponding Info links in the table below to find more information about the individual courses, including course outline and the complete collection of course module texts.
